Today, most people with asthma can live a completely normal and active life. They can even be Olympic athletes!  And you can get there too!

The best way to do this is prevent problems!!

·         Follow your Asthma Action Plan

Asthma Control: Excellent breathing every day!

  • Few breathing problems at night – at the most 3 times per month.
  • Taking part in any sport without breathing problems getting in the way.
  • Never missing school because of asthma.
  • Rarely using your Reliever medicine to treat symptoms (at the most 3 times per week).
  • Having normal breathing tests.

In addition to avoiding triggers, most teens with asthma have to take medicines to keep their asthma in good control.  The type and amount of medicine you need will depend on many things, including your asthma control. (see asthma medicines).  Remember not to stop taking your medicine without talking to your doctor.
